BRS MLC K Kavitha has voiced strong opposition to the Telangana government's recent decision to transition the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Cooperation Limited (TGIIC) from a private limited entity to a public listed company.
Speaking with ANI, she alleged that the actual motive behind this move is for the state government to sell or trade vast tracts of land, approximately 1,75,000 acres, which she described as an 'unfortunate' development.
K Kavitha emphasized that the TGIIC was originally established to develop land and promote industrial investment in Telangana. She urged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to reconsider the decision, warning against the long-term impact of increasing state debt.
The TGIIC, which operates with nine Zonal Offices and covers extensive regions, has so far developed infrastructure across 156 industrial parks, totaling 28,458 acres, with 5,730 acres available for new allotments.
