In a strategic move to fortify its mineral portfolio, Vedanta, led by Anil Agarwal, is exploring critical mineral assets in several states across India, including Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Bihar. This comes as global demand for such minerals intensifies, driven by growing energy-efficient technologies.

The company announced it is ramping up efforts to explore and exploit resources such as copper, nickel, and cobalt, supported by India's policy towards mineral security. Recent successes in mineral block auctions have seen Vedanta secure valuable assets including vanadium and graphite mines in Arunachal Pradesh and a poly-metal mine in Karnataka.

Expanding its base of value-added products, Vedanta is also increasing its aluminium production capacity. As part of this initiative, the company has approved a $1.5 billion investment for an ambitious smelter expansion and enhanced capacity at its aluminium plants, aiming to solidify its standing in the metal industry.
