The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, Arvind Kejriwal, took to social media on Tuesday to express his sorrow over the Majitha illicit liquor incident that claimed fourteen lives, leaving six others hospitalized. Kejriwal emphasized that the perpetrators will face severe justice, regardless of their influence or status.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also addressed the tragedy, labeling it as a series of 'murders' rather than mere deaths. Mann pledged that those responsible for distributing the toxic liquor would face the strictest punishment under the law. He assured the support of the government to the bereaved families.

In a swift response, police have arrested six suspects, including the main distributor of the methanol-laced liquor. According to Deputy Inspector General Satinder Singh and SSP Maninder Singh, the accused Prabhjeet Singh and kingpin Sahib Singh were central figures in the operation. Legal action has commenced against them under stringent sections of the law.
