A serious incident unfolded in Haibatpur, Aurai, as a high-tension electricity line snapped and fell onto a transformer, leading to burn injuries for five individuals Tuesday morning, confirmed local officials.
According to A K Singh, Sub-Divisional Officer of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited, the mishap led to high-voltage currents spreading to nearby houses, injuring five people: Akash Saroj, Uma Shankar Maurya, Ravi Shankar Maurya, Muneeb, and Anil Saroj. Affected individuals have been admitted to the community health center, where their conditions are stable.
In addition to personal injuries, electrical appliances within a 500-metre radius suffered damage due to the power surge. Immediate intervention by a team led by junior engineer Pancham Ram saw the site promptly secured and the power supply cut off to prevent further hazards. Officials are now working to restore electricity to the affected area.
