The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has called former Congress Member of Parliament DK Suresh for interrogation concerning an alleged fraud scheme involving Aishwarya Gowda. Gowda, who misrepresented herself as Suresh's sister, was taken into custody by the ED on April 24 on charges of money laundering.
Initially, the ED had scheduled Suresh's appearance for questioning on Thursday, June 19, at 11 AM, but he requested to postpone it to June 23. The probing authority had previously commented on conducting searches at 14 locations linked to the accused, Aishwarya Gowda, resulting in the seizure of approximately Rs 2.25 crore worth of incriminating materials.
In a social media post on April 26, the agency confirmed Gowda's arrest under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002. After her arrest, she was presented before the Special Court, which granted the ED a 14-day custody of the accused.
The ED's searches, executed on April 24 and 25 under PMLA provisions, unveiled incriminating documents and assets. The operations, spread across 14 locations associated with Gowda and her partners, uncovered digital devices and cash amounting to around Rs 2.25 crore.
Reports suggest Gowda was arrested for allegedly laundering money through various schemes that deceived affluent individuals in Karnataka, utilizing claims of political kinship with leaders such as DK Suresh and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. Last year, Bengaluru police recorded numerous cheating cases against her. (ANI)
