NIA Chargesheets Four More in West Bengal Mob Attack Case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has broadened its investigation into the 2024 West Bengal Priyangu Pandey mob attack, filing charges against four additional suspects, according to an official statement released on Tuesday. The NIA identified the accused as Pious Prasad, Md. Tipu, Mohit Mahato, and Md. Javed, who are charged under various legal statutes including the BNS, Arms Act, and Explosive Substances Act.
This latest action brings the total number of individuals charged in the case to 18, with 17 arrests already made. Notably, one suspect remains at large. The NIA stated that these individuals were actively involved in a plot employing explosives and firearms aimed at Priyangu Pandey's convoy near Gate 3 of the Anglo Indian Jute Mill staff quarters, located within the Bhatpara police jurisdiction.
Pandey's team was en route to visit former MP Shri Arjun Singh when the violent incident unfolded, resulting in gunshot injuries to Pandey's driver, Ravi Verma, and his aide, Rabi Singh. The NIA confirmed that the investigation is ongoing as they continue to unearth more details regarding the attack. (ANI)
