Congress parliamentarian Shashi Tharoor has admitted a difference of opinion with the party's leadership, though his loyalty to Congress's values remains intact. Despite skipping campaigning for the party in the Nilambur byelection, Tharoor cited an absence of a party invitation for his decision.

When asked about whether his disagreement was with the national or state party leaders, Tharoor chose not to elaborate, citing the ongoing Assembly bypoll. "It's not the right moment to discuss internal issues," he stated, expressing hope for his colleague, Aryadan Shoukath's success in the electoral race.

The byelection comes in light of PV Anvar's resignation leading to a need for a new representative in Nilambur. Aryadan Shoukath is confident of a United Democratic Front (UDF) win, criticizing the state government's neglect of the region, particularly towards the tribals and rising human-animal conflict.
