BJP MP from Hamirpur, Anurag Thakur, extended his gratitude towards the Central Government for releasing Rs 2,006.40 crore to aid disaster restoration efforts in Himachal Pradesh. Thakur, a former Union Minister, took a sharp jab at the state Congress government, accusing it of not acknowledging the Centre's assistance and displaying political bias in the implementation of relief measures.
Addressing reporters, Thakur emphasized that the Centre has consistently supported the state. "During the disaster, we managed to sanction thousands of houses for Himachal Pradesh and ensure benefits," he noted. He credited Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their unwavering support, while questioning the state government's alleged reluctance to express gratitude.
Thakur recalled previous instances where the state government failed to show appreciation for aid provided under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, which sanctioned 93,000 houses in a single allotment. He criticized the state's questioning of the allocation, citing instances of alleged nepotism. Thakur also highlighted issues regarding infrastructure projects under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, where MPs were not recognized on inauguration plaques, illustrating what he labeled as discrimination and a dangerous precedent.
