In a pivotal move to assess and enhance security strategies for Muharram, International Yoga Day, and other forthcoming events in the region, Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone VK Birdi led a key meeting at the PCR Kashmir Conference Hall on Thursday. An official statement noted that IGP Birdi emphasized the necessity of comprehensive security arrangements to facilitate peaceful proceedings by intensifying surveillance on anti-national elements and potential disruptors, particularly during night events.

IGP Birdi further instructed officials to hold collaborative sessions with all relevant stakeholders, urging their support for the seamless execution of these gatherings. Participants updated the inspector on the security frameworks already in place for Muharram and other significant occasions.

The briefing also touched on strategies for handling mourning processions, crowd control, traffic management, and overall law and order maintenance. IGP Kashmir reviewed preparations for International Yoga Day, assessing both security and logistical plans.

Earlier in the day, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat visited the Sun Temple in Anantnag, lauding the remarkable resurgence of tourism in Jammu and Kashmir over the past six weeks. He expressed optimism that the region would return to pre-Pahalgam tourism benchmarks by December.
