The Uttar Pradesh Police has intensified its legal proceedings by filing a chargesheet against Samajwadi Party MP Zia-ur-Rehman Barq. This decisive action stems from an investigation into a violent outbreak near the Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal that occurred in November of the previous year.

Sambhal Superintendent of Police KK Bishnoi reported that Barq stands accused of delivering a provocative speech, believed to have fueled the violence. Initially, Sohail Iqbal, the son of SP MLA Iqbal Mehmood, was also implicated, but subsequent evidence led to his name being excluded from the final chargesheet.

Highlighting the gravity of the situation, Bishnoi confirmed that multiple cases were registered, resulting in 92 arrests so far. An SIT was formed, and thoroughly investigated MP Barq. The violence claimed four lives, with efforts to expedite trials and secure accountability fully underway.
