Union Home Minister Amit Shah asserted on Friday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has revolutionized health policy with a broad perspective, initiating diverse schemes aimed at enhancing the healthcare sector. Notably, the number of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has increased from seven to 23 since Modi ascended to power.

Shah emphasized the Central Government's efforts, such as constructing toilets for 12 crore households, promoting the Fit India Movement, celebrating Yoga Day, and launching Mission Indradhanush for vaccination. He further underscored the success of Poshan Abhiyan for maternal and child nutrition, along with Ayushman Bharat—a health insurance scheme offering Rs 5 lakh coverage—and the PM Janaushadhi Scheme.

Speaking at the inauguration of Adichunchanagiri University's Bengaluru campus, Shah highlighted the achievements in health infrastructure under Modi's tenure, noting the jump in medical colleges to 780 from a previous 387, along with an increase in MBBS seats to 1,18,000. Shah also commended Adichunchanagiri Math for its work in uplifting spirituality among poor and middle-class families.

Shah's visit to Bengaluru included a meeting with senior BJP leader and former Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, further strengthening the political camaraderie within the state.
