BJP MP Jagadish Shettar has criticized the Karnataka government's decision to increase housing reservation for minority communities from 10% to 15%, accusing the Congress of engaging in appeasement politics to secure Muslim votes. 'From the beginning, the Congress has always sought Muslim votes through appeasement,' he told ANI.
Shettar denounced the move as politically motivated, suggesting that such decisions could ultimately lead to the fall of the Congress government. He believes that Congress's reliance on Muslim support has kept the party afloat but warned against excessive appeasement.
Echoing Shettar's sentiments, Karnataka BJP President BY Vijayendra labeled the reservation increase as unconstitutional. He accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of exploiting minorities for political gain and prioritized addressing educational needs over reservations. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi also opposed the move, calling it unconstitutional and indicative of politics of appeasement by Congress.
