Assam Celebrates Ambubachi Mahayog Amid Infrastructural Progress

Concurrently, he dedicated two district jails in Chirang and Baksa, signifying infrastructural progression. The spiritual festival 'Ambubachi Mahayog' commenced in Assam, as announced by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. This annual event, which honors the divine femininity of Maa Kamakhya, draws spiritual leaders and devotees nationwide to the revered Nilachal Hills. Sarma extended a warm welcome to pilgrims, inviting them to experience spiritual enlightenment and seek blessings.
Amid the festival's celebrations, Sarma also inaugurated two newly constructed district jails in Chirang and Baksa. The jail at Kajolgaon, Chirang, built at a cost of Rs 72.79 crore, can house 500 inmates. The Baksa jail at Mushlapur, constructed for Rs 53.86 crore, offers similar capacity and facilities. These inaugurations mark a significant step in enhancing the region's infrastructure.
In his address, Sarma highlighted the infrastructural gaps in Chirang but also noted progress through joint state and local administrative efforts. Key initiatives, including a stadium and Upendra Nath Brahma garden, are underway. Infrastructure projects like a new road and rail line aim to drive Chirang's socio-economic growth, connecting it more effectively with Bhutan's Gelephu City.
