DMK Criticizes India's Shift in Stance on Palestine Amid Mideast Tensions
DMK spokesperson TKS Elangovan alleges the Indian government's silence on Palestine is due to a shift to support Israel. Criticism follows India's abstention in a UN vote on Gaza ceasefire. Meanwhile, tensions escalate in West Asia after US and Israel strike Iran's nuclear sites, prompting safety advisories for Indians in Palestine.

DMK spokesperson TKS Elangovan has openly criticized the Indian government for its apparent shift in stance on the Palestine issue, describing it as "wrong" due to a perceived alignment to gain support from Israel. Elangovan pointed out that India, which once backed Palestine, now remains silent.
The remarks come after India abstained from a United Nations General Assembly vote on a ceasefire in Gaza. The UNGA resolution called for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, receiving support from 149 countries, while 19 abstained and 12 opposed. This regional tension heightened as the US and Israel targeted Iran's nuclear facilities.
As the situation intensifies, India's Representative Office in Ramallah has urged Indian nationals in Palestine to exercise caution and remain vigilant. A contact line has been established for emergencies amid Israel's preemptive strike in Iran, which aimed to hinder its nuclear ambitions and counter ongoing threats.
