The Chamoli Police and Chardham Police Control Room have issued an alert to tourists and pilgrims, warning of a blockade on the Badrinath National Highway, near Bhanerpani in Pipalkoti, caused by incessant rainfall. Efforts to clear the route are underway, but stonefalls are obstructing the progress.
On its official social media platform, Chamoli Police stated, "Due to continuous rain since late night, the Badrinath National Highway is blocked near #Bhanerpani (Pipalkoti)." Travelers are advised to remain patient and use the helplines provided for assistance during this period.
Previously, a helicopter crash took place in a dense forest area in Rudraprayag district, killing seven, including a pilot. Rescue operations were swiftly initiated despite challenging weather by State Disaster Response Forces (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). Authorities are investigating, with potential reductions in helicopter operations to enhance safety, per DGCA's review.
