The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts predicting severe rainfall in the Konkan region over the next two days. Mumbai and neighboring areas are under an orange alert, while other districts face a red alert as weather disturbances in the Bay of Bengal impact the region.

Incessant showers since Wednesday morning have caused waterlogging in Mumbai, affecting vehicular movement. The Eastern and Western Express Highways experienced significant traffic congestion due to the adverse weather conditions.

Average rainfall measured for 24 hours ending at 8 am Wednesday was notable, with 47.77 mm recorded in the island city, 33.10 mm in the eastern suburbs, and 53.92 mm in the western suburbs. Officials forecast continuing heavy downpours as the low-pressure area develops in the Bay of Bengal.
