Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan paid homage to the founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangh, Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee, on the occasion of his 72nd death anniversary. Pradhan lauded Mukherjee as a visionary whose principles continue to guide the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and significantly impact India's political landscape.
Reflecting on Mukherjee's 1953 protest against dual legal systems within India, Pradhan emphasized his historic entry into Jammu and Kashmir despite personal risk. According to Pradhan, Mukherjee's actions underscored his belief in a unified and independent India. The abrogation of Article 370 in 2019 is seen by Pradhan as a tribute to Mukherjee's enduring legacy.
Pradhan was joined by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, BJP MPs from Delhi, and other senior BJP members. The event underscored the significance of Mukherjee's contributions, who also served as Industry and Supply Minister in Nehru's cabinet before founding the Bharatiya Jana Sangh in 1951, making a lasting mark on Indian politics before his death in 1953.
