Air India had to cancel its scheduled flight from Thiruvananthapuram to Delhi on Sunday after the aircraft reported a suspected bird hit on its journey from the national capital. The aircraft involved in the incident was identified as Flight AI2454, which had already landed safely in Thiruvananthapuram when the issue was detected.
An Air India spokesperson stated that the cancellation of Flight AI2455 to Delhi was necessary to conduct extensive engineering checks on the affected aircraft. The spokesperson expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to passengers, assuring them of efforts to minimize disruptions, including providing accommodations and offering refunds or alternative flight arrangements.
The airline highlighted its dedication to safety, noting enhanced pre-flight safety measures despite challenges such as air traffic congestion and weather disruptions. Air India's proactive approach to safety comes in the wake of public concerns following the AI171 tragedy earlier this year, with assertions from CEO Campbell Wilson about the fleet's safe operations.
