In a landmark move, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has positioned its 5.56x45 mm CQB Carbine as the least expensive option in the Indian Army's ambitious procurement of over 400,000 close-quarter battle carbines.
Unveiling a new era of self-reliance in defense technology, the Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE) designed carbine emerged as the top choice in the Army's Request for Proposal (RFP), according to a recent social media announcement by DRDO. The Army has long sought to procure these carbines, yet progress stalled due to previous tender withdrawals.
With a potential agreement looming, this contract could represent one of the most significant investments in domestically developed weaponry. Additionally, the Ministry of Defence noted India's entrance into advanced quantum communication, as DRDO's collaborative efforts achieved new milestones in secure communication technology at IIT Delhi, paving the way for quantum cybersecurity advancements.
