On Monday, Air India Express flight IX2564, traveling from Delhi to Jammu, was compelled to return to its departure airport following the identification of a technical issue during its journey. Initially scheduled to depart at 10:40 AM from Delhi, the Airbus A320 took off at 11:04 AM. However, instead of reaching its destination by the expected time of 12:05 PM, the aircraft was redirected back to Delhi, according to Flightradar24 data.
Air India Express confirmed the incident through a spokesperson who stated, 'An alternative aircraft was arranged to operate our Delhi-Jammu flight after the original aircraft returned to Delhi due to a technical issue. We regret the inconvenience caused to our passengers.' Although the specifics of the technical snag were not detailed, the airline promptly arranged for a replacement aircraft to ensure continued service on the Delhi-Jammu route.
This disruption closely follows another incident involving an Air India Express flight operating from Delhi to Patna, which was redirected to Varanasi on Saturday owing to severe weather conditions. An airline representative commented on the delay, explaining that flight IX1014 to Patna was briefly diverted. The situation resolved once the weather stabilized, allowing the aircraft to continue to Patna.
