In a significant blow to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has emerged victorious in both the Visavadar and Ludhiana West by-elections, a result AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal described as evidence of growing public disillusionment with the BJP.

During a session with the press on Monday, Kejriwal emphasized that despite the BJP's control over Gujarat's state administration and electoral machinery, voters have displayed a clear preference for AAP by backing them with a substantial margin. He recounted AAP's previous win in the Visavadar seat, where their MLA had defected to the BJP, triggering the current by-election.

AAP's triumph in Visavadar, secured by Gopal Italia, who surpassed BJP's Kirit Patel by 17,554 votes, highlights the party's increasing influence. Isudan Gadhvi, AAP Gujarat's president, interpreted the victory as a sign that AAP could soon become the primary opposition to the BJP in Gujarat. Meanwhile, celebrations erupted within AAP's Delhi unit, with their president praising the success as a considerable achievement and testament to enduring public support.
