Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has leveled allegations against certain opposition MLAs, accusing them of illegally occupying government land. These accusations come in the wake of the government's intensified anti-encroachment campaign. Sarma made these remarks in a statement posted on X, following his visit to the eco-sensitive Hahila Beel in the Goalpara district, where recent eviction drives have targeted unlawful encroachments.

Sarma revealed that the administration is utilizing drones extensively to survey areas affected by encroachment. During his visit, he even operated a drone himself to assess the land reclaimed from encroachers. "We are making full use of drone technology to survey the encroached lands of Hahila Beel and implement corrective measures," Sarma noted.

In a bid to enhance public health, the Assam government is set to initiate health camps across all constituencies from October. The camps aim to provide health screenings and prompt medical assistance. Sarma stated in a post on X that these camps will feature both public and private sector specialists, ensuring detailed health assessments and treatments. The initiative also includes linking patients to health welfare schemes and offering free counseling and medications.

Sarma recently presided over the 23rd meeting of the Assam Cancer Care Foundation in Guwahati, where significant decisions were made. These include the establishment of a B.Sc. Nursing College at Lakhimpur Cancer Centre and the installation of a PET-CT machine at the State Cancer Institute in Guwahati. Additionally, four more cancer hospitals under the foundation are scheduled for completion by December 2025.
