Union Minister Jitendra Singh announced that the Axiom-4 mission, featuring a private spaceflight to the International Space Station (ISS), is set to launch today at 12:01 pm IST, piloted by Indian Air Force Group Captain Subhanshu Shukla.
The mission is aiming for a launch window of 2:31 a.m. EDT or 12 noon IST from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, USA. The crew will travel aboard a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft, launched by a Falcon 9 rocket, and is expected to dock with the ISS by 7 am EDT Thursday or 4 pm IST.
The four-member team, led by Peggy Whitson, a former NASA astronaut, includes ESA's Slawosz Uznanski-Wisniewski from Poland and Tibor Kapu from Hungary. Notably, Ax-4 marks the first government-sponsored human spaceflight for these countries in over 40 years and the first mission aboard the ISS for all three nations.
