Israel's Oil Refineries, commonly referred to as Bazan, announced on Sunday the partial resumption of operations at its Haifa facility. This development comes after the site was shut down following an Iranian missile strike two weeks prior. Bazan has reported in a regulatory filing in Tel Aviv that it is gradually restoring its operations and aims to be fully operational by October. The company is fortified with insurance that covers up to $250 million for damage and profit losses resulting from acts of terrorism and war.
On June 15, Iranian missile strikes caused significant damage to Bazan's pipelines and transmission lines in Haifa, claiming the lives of three employees. The company is currently evaluating the impact of this damage on its operations and assessing the potential implications for its financial results. The incident underscored the vulnerabilities and challenges faced by critical infrastructure in volatile regions.
Energy Minister Eli Cohen remarked on Sunday that Israel's energy system continued to function flawlessly throughout the conflict. He lauded the swift resolution of issues at Bazan as proof of the strength and resilience inherent in Israel's energy sector. The sector's ability to bounce back amidst adversity demonstrates its strategic importance and the effectiveness of the measures in place to counteract such disruptions.
