The National Sample Survey Office (NSO), under the aegis of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), has taken a significant stride in democratizing data access with the launch of the GoIStats mobile application on Statistics Day 2025. Announced in a release by MoSPI on Sunday, this initiative underscores India's commitment to creating a user-centric, accessible platform for official statistics.
GoIStats aims to revolutionize the data ecosystem by granting stakeholders easy access to essential data, highlighted by an interactive 'Key Trends' dashboard. This feature provides dynamic visualizations of crucial socio-economic metrics, such as GDP, inflation, and employment rates. A streamlined 'Products' section offers users direct database access with functionality for one-click CSV downloads, advanced filtering, and mobile-friendly data viewing.
Enhancing its user engagement, the app employs data storytelling through curated infographics and interactive charts, complete with contextual insights and social sharing options. A comprehensive library of NSO publications is available with instant download, and regular updates keep content fresh and relevant. Currently free on Android, an iOS version is anticipated soon, with features crafted to empower users and bolster citizen participation in governance.
