Subansiri Project Awaits Green Light: A Power Milestone on Hold

India's state-owned National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) is on the cusp of a major milestone, awaiting clearance from the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) for the commercial operation of three units at the Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project. Each unit, generating 250 MW, is a key part of this ambitious plan.

The Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project, under the aegis of the Ministry of Power, is expected to significantly bolster India's power generation with a total capacity of 2,000 MW. Originally slated to start commissioning three units in June, NHPC continues to await the necessary regulatory nod.

Strategically positioned near North Lakhimpur on the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border, this run-of-river hydroelectric project promises an estimated 7,421.59 million units of energy annually, marking a significant leap in the nation's renewable energy landscape.
