Kanial village in Daskroi Taluka, Ahmedabad district, has earned the title of Gujarat's best 'Child-Friendly Gram Panchayat' as part of the Panchayat Advancement Index, exemplifying grassroots commitment to child welfare. Recognized for achievements such as 100% child vaccination and comprehensive school and girl child enrollment, Kanial has emerged as a model for collaborative village governance dedicated to nurturing future generations.

A ceremony in Gandhinagar on July 4 will honor newly elected Sarpanchs and Panchayat members, where awards will be presented to top-performing Gram Panchayats across nine key themes including Poverty-Free Village, Healthy Village, and more. Samaras Gram Panchayats are also slated to receive development grants.

In response to the accolade, Kanial's Sarpanch, Shri Umedsinh Jhala, acknowledged the award as a community-wide achievement resulting from synchronized efforts of the Panchayat, educational institutions, Anganwadi workers, and health teams. The village school has played a critical role, embracing a child-centric approach that emphasizes safety, parent-school engagement, and competitive exam participation.

Contributing significantly, Kanial's Anganwadi centers have transformed early childhood care with health monitoring, integrated health programs, and community activities like 'Mangal Divas' and 'Mamata Divas', effectively combating malnutrition according to officials. This recognition arises amid a state-driven push for decentralized governance and child-focused development, demonstrating the influence of community initiatives on sustainable growth. (ANI)
