In a significant development for hydropower in Northeast India, Union Power Secretary Pankaj Agarwal assessed the progress of the Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project, a major 2000 MW initiative along the Arunachal-Assam border. His visit underscores the central government's commitment to advancing key infrastructure in the region.
Accompanied by NHPC leaders, including CMD Rajendra Prasad Goyal, Secretary Agarwal highlighted the project's strategic importance. Local MLA Rotom Tebin emphasized its economic benefits, urging prioritization of a crucial road link to facilitate the timely execution of related projects.
Agarwal assured full support from the Union Power Ministry and plans to coordinate with MoRTH to expedite road construction. His visit to NHPC's Siang Basin office included project reviews and an acknowledgment of NHPC's efforts in sustainability, marking the company's 50th anniversary with a tree-planting ceremony.
