In a significant political gathering, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, alongside other key ministers, convened on Wednesday. The meeting, also attended by Union Health Minister and BJP President JP Nadda and Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju, focused on pressing parliamentary disruptions.
The discussion followed a session where the Speaker met with Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh, amid a turbulent monsoon session of Parliament beset by consecutive adjournments. Opposition MPs firmly interrupted proceedings, calling for debates on urgent matters including electoral roll revisions in Bihar, Operation Sindoor, and President Trump's recent comments on India-Pakistan peace.
In parallel, a notable impeachment motion against High Court judge Justice Yashwant Varma, supported by 145 Lok Sabha MPs from diverse political backgrounds, was advanced. The motion comes in response to allegations related to the cash discovery case, highlighting a cross-party demand for judicial accountability and transparency.
