Jammu and Kashmir is grappling with relentless rainfall, which has devastated homes and triggered extensive landslides. Particularly hard-hit is the village of Bedar in the Mandi sector, where Mohammad Sharif's home was destroyed. Local resident Imtiyaz Ahmad is calling on authorities to provide financial aid for rebuilding efforts.
The adverse weather has led to a surge in the Poonch river, prompting deployment of State Disaster Response Force personnel to monitor the situation closely. According to Assistant Sub-Inspector Zakir, precautionary measures are being enforced to prevent any casualties as water levels continue to rise.
In the Kalakote division of the Rajouri district, landslides have resulted in house damages and road blockades. Assistant Development Commissioner Tanveer Hussain Khan confirmed that measures are underway to manage the crisis, including evacuations and the establishment of rehabilitation centers. Schools remain closed as the region combats the effects of continuous rainfall and natural disruptions.
