Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah has introduced the National Cooperative Policy 2025 at the Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan, emphasizing the government's aim to establish at least one cooperative in every village. This strategic move is intended to fortify grassroots cooperative units and promote inclusive growth among rural communities, particularly focusing on farmers, women, Dalits, and tribal groups.
During the event, Shah reflected on the inception and current advancement of cooperative policies. He noted that the new policy, building on the original framework from 2002 when the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was also in power, is a continuation of efforts to bolster the cooperative sector. Shah asserted, "If the basic unit of the country and economy is prosperous and content, the economic model becomes infallible."
The minister elaborated that the policy's core vision prioritizes people and rural development, with the mission to cultivate professional, transparent, and financially robust small cooperative units. The policy is designed to revitalize the cooperative sector with modern strategies, aligning with technological advancements and globalization, to achieve the aim of 'Viksit Bharat 2047'.
