In a pointed address in the Lok Sabha, Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav challenged the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Central government to take full responsibility for the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025, arguing that it occurred despite assurances of restored normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir.
Yadav criticized the government's narrative of peace in the region, labeling it a façade that compromised national security. Speaking against the backdrop of US Vice President JD Vance's visit, she accused the government of failing to increase security effectively, thereby endangering tourists who relied on official assurances of safety.
Echoing similar sentiments, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, demanded answers from Home Minister Amit Shah on recurring intelligence lapses since the BJP assumed power. He urged concrete actions to rectify these failures, citing the Pahalgam attack as the latest evidence of vulnerabilities in national security.
