In a distressing turn of events, relentless rain has battered Madhya Pradesh's Guna district, leading to the tragic deaths of two individuals and the rescue of approximately 150 residents, according to police reports.
Guna Superintendent of Police Ankit Soni confirmed the establishment of a coordinated control room with police and administration working in tandem. 'Efforts are ongoing with dedicated teams deployed to rescue affected residents, and two bodies have been identified and returned to their families,' stated Soni.
The region has been inundated for the past three days, creating flood-like conditions particularly in Fatehgarh and Bamori areas, as asserted by Guna Collector Kishore Kumar Kanyal. Relief and rescue operations are vigorously underway with the reinforcements from the Indian Army, NDRF, and SDRF, ensuring immediate support for the distressed population.
Tragedy in Gwalior struck as well when heavy rains caused a house section to collapse, resulting in the deaths of cousins Ritesh and Radha. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a Yellow alert as regions like Guna, Fatehgarh, and Bamori continue to receive significant rainfall, urging residents to stay safe as authorities control the precarious situation.
