The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is poised for a robust campaign in the forthcoming Bodoland Territorial Council elections, with a strategic focus on fostering peace, bolstering development, and ensuring self-governance in the region. Assam BJP's Chief Spokesperson, Kishore Upadhyay, conveyed the party's serious commitment to the elections, emphasizing the transformed political atmosphere in the Bodoland Territorial Region.
Despite participating in previous elections, the BJP acknowledges past limitations in contesting with full strength. Upadhyay declared that this election cycle will see the party contesting with renewed vigor, centering its efforts on development and peace. He underscored the importance of aligning with the Bodo people's sentiments and supporting the BTR agreement to facilitate their development and self-governance.
The BJP aims to integrate the BTR's progress with Assam's overall development, as highlighted by planned meetings led by the Chief Minister across all constituencies starting August 2nd. Following the 2020 Memorandum of Settlement, which resolved long-standing Bodo crises, the BJP has decided to contest independently in 38 of 40 constituencies, respecting Bodo leaders while seeking to broaden its influence in the region. Elections are anticipated to occur in September. (ANI)
