Karnataka's political landscape was rocked on Friday when a special court convicted former Member of Parliament Prajwal Revanna in a rape case. Revanna, the grandson of ex-Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, faced charges relating to his domestic help. The court will decide the punishment on August 2.
Prosecutor Ashok Nayak lauded the ruling as a victory for the victim, highlighting the thorough investigation led by the Special Investigation Team. "We've examined 26 witnesses, resulting in a swift trial," he stated, expressing confidence in the digital evidence presented.
Revanna, detained by authorities while returning from abroad, has been in judicial custody since May 2024. His conviction caps a high-profile case marked by grave allegations and extensive prosecutorial work, involving over 2,000 pages of charge sheets and 123 evidence pieces.
