The Resident Doctors Association (RDA) of AIIMS Patna staged a protest on Friday against Sheohar MLA Chetan Anand. The protest arose after allegations emerged that Anand, accompanied by his wife and armed guards, forcibly entered the hospital, assaulted security personnel, threatened resident doctors with death, and brandished a firearm on the premises.

Chanting slogans such as "We want justice" and "Vidhayak ji maafi mange," the doctors called for legal action against the MLA and demanded the deployment of security personnel at the hospital. The protest followed the RDA's announcement to halt all elective services and conditionally cease emergency services starting August 1 due to the incident.

According to the RDA's letter to the medical superintendent, the incident occurred late on July 30 at the Trauma Centre. They claim the MLA and his security team forced entry, physically assaulted staff, and threatened doctors. Despite the serious nature of the allegations, they stated no FIR had been filed, and the administration had failed to take substantive legal or institutional action, fostering a climate of fear among healthcare workers.

The RDA highlighted four main demands: the lodging of an FIR against the involved parties, deployment of permanent security in the hospital, a formal written condemnation from the administration, and the implementation of long-term security measures to ensure healthcare workers' safety.

Meanwhile, MLA Anand alleged that during his visit to see a patient, he and his supporters were assaulted and held hostage by hospital staff. Following the confrontation, both sides accused each other of misconduct and filed complaints.
