In a sharp critique, former Indian Prime Minister and JD(S) chief HD Deve Gowda lambasted opposition leaders for endorsing US President Donald Trump's harsh comments on India's economic condition, branding them as 'deluded spokespersons.' He cautioned these leaders that their actions could jeopardize their parties' future, equating their fate to what he termed the 'dustbin of history' alongside Trump.

Gowda did not hold back in his disapproval of Trump's remarks, labeling them as 'ill-tempered' and 'irresponsible.' In his statement, Deve Gowda expressed shock at Trump's baseless diatribe concerning India's economic landscape. He went further to extol the virtues of India's small traders and farmers, suggesting they could teach Trump valuable lessons in dignity, integrity, and humanity. Gowda expressed pride in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, especially in not compromising on national interests amidst international pressure.

The JD(S) chief lauded the Modi government's resilience to Trump's 'bullying,' emphasizing that this stern stance signifies a major national revival. He highlighted the government's commitment to safeguarding the agricultural sector and small businesses, which are critical to more than half of India's population. Gowda also advised opposition leaders to reflect on their stance, urging them to prioritize their parties' longevity over short-term political gains that align them with Trump's controversial views.
