In a significant move, Congress MP Hibi Eden on Monday sought an Adjournment Motion in the Lok Sabha to extensively discuss the arrest of two nuns from Kerala and a tribal youth in Chhattisgarh on allegations of human trafficking. Eden submitted a notice to the Secretary General, emphasizing the need for a debate on this pressing matter.

He laid out the critical elements of the discussion, calling for a proper examination following a complaint lodged against Bajrang Dal activists by the alleged victims. Eden stressed that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) should refrain from handling this case, unless it involves national security or cross-state implications. He urged for the withdrawal of charges against the nuns and emphasized measures to preserve communal harmony.

The nuns, detained at Durg Railway Station on July 25, have been released, following a bail order by the NIA court, according to their advocate, Gopa Kumar. The legal team argued that the charges under BNS section 143 were unfounded, resulting in their bail, which requires them to furnish a bond of Rs 50,000 and prohibits them from leaving India. Meanwhile, AAP's Sanjay Singh raised separate concerns in Parliament regarding discrepancies in the SSC exam process.
