Empowering Women in Agri-Education: A New Dawn in Jammu and Kashmir

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah praised agricultural scientists, faculty, and students for their role in driving innovation and urged a focus on farmer-centric research to foster a self-reliant Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing SKUAST's 9th convocation, Abdullah lauded the remarkable achievement of female students, who secured the majority of degrees and gold medals. He highlighted the changing educational landscape where women are now excelling in agriculture, traditionally a male-dominated field.

Abdullah underscored agriculture and allied sectors' importance to the region's economy, surpassing tourism and industry. He pointed to new technologies and policies as opportunities, while noting challenges like climate change and resource scarcity, advocating for a shift towards organic farming to mitigate health risks.
