Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday in a significant diplomatic engagement that promised to further bilateral relations between the two nations. Wang Yi delivered a personal message and an invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping for PM Modi to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit scheduled to take place in Tianjin, China, from August 31 to September 1.

The Prime Minister's Office released a statement emphasizing the productive discussions between Wang Yi, a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China, and Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, as well as National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. PM Modi underlined the importance of maintaining peace along the borders and reiterated India's commitment to resolving the boundary issues in a fair and reasonable manner.

Prime Minister Modi welcomed the progress achieved in India-China relations since his previous meeting with President Xi at the BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia. He highlighted the resumption of the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra as a positive development and expressed support for China's presidency of the SCO Summit, looking forward to his upcoming meeting with President Xi in Tianjin.
