Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar announced the postponement of the protest against alleged vote theft to August 8, following the demise of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren.

Shivakumar, speaking at Freedom Park, emphasized the need to respect Soren, a revered tribal leader and Congress ally, with party leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge expected to pay their tributes.

Despite coinciding with the Varamahalakshmi festival, Shivakumar assured that the protest arrangements would not disrupt public festivities. He also addressed the BJP's counter-protest, reiterating the Congress' call for electoral transparency.
