In a tragic incident, two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel lost their lives, and 12 others sustained injuries following a vehicle accident in Jammu & Kashmir's Udhampur district. The mishap occurred near Kandva in the Basantgarh area, as confirmed by Additional Superintendent of Police Sandeep Bhat on Thursday. Bhat reported that police swiftly arrived on the scene to conduct rescue operations, transferring the injured to a nearby hospital for treatment.

According to sources, the vehicle veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge, causing the casualties. Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh contacted Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai, who is overseeing the situation and ensuring coordinated efforts.

Sharing his concerns via an X post, Jitendra Singh expressed his distress over the accident involving CRPF personnel. He confirmed speaking with DC Saloni Rai, who is personally managing the response and keeping him informed. He commended the local residents for their voluntary contributions to the rescue efforts, ensuring all possible assistance for those affected.
