Congress MP Sukhdeo Bhagat took a strong stand on Thursday, criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his silence regarding the newly imposed 25% tariff on Indian oil imports by the US from Russia. Speaking with ANI, Bhagat expressed disbelief over US President Trump's actions, noting Trump's continued trade with Russia, specifically in uranium and fertilizers.

Bhagat questioned President Trump's demeanor towards India, suggesting it deviates from traditional presidential conduct. He emphasized the need for PM Modi to break his silence and respond to the situation, questioning if decisions would consistently be dictated by the US President.

The tariff imposition follows an Executive Order by President Trump, enacted in response to India's Russian oil transactions. Citing national security risks, the order effectively raises tariffs on all Indian goods entering the US to 50%, stirring international trade tensions and debate over diplomatic relations between the countries.
