In a heated political exchange, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has condemned the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for alleged manipulation of the electoral rolls in the state. During a rally in Jhargram, Banerjee vowed to protest globally if genuine voters are disenfranchised, accusing the Election Commission of India of bias towards the BJP.
Reacting to Banerjee's assertions, BJP MP and state president Samik Bhattacharya dismissed her claims, stating that her reliance on illegal voters is misguided. Bhattacharya criticized her opposition to the Special Intensive Revision process, labeling it an attack on constitutional institutions.
The controversy intensified as Banerjee voiced fears of an NRC-like conspiracy affecting Bengali-speaking residents, while Bhattacharya insisted that any grievances should be addressed through the Supreme Court. With the political atmosphere tense, both sides continue to trade barbs, adding to the mounting electoral tensions in West Bengal.
