On Thursday, the Tripura government commemorated the 11th National Handloom Day at Pragya Bhavan in Agartala, spotlighting various schemes to acknowledge and support the state's handloom artisans. Launched in 2015 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the day celebrates India's vibrant handloom tradition and the weavers' significant roles in its perpetuation.
The event was graced by Bikas Debbarma, the Minister for Tribal Welfare, alongside other dignitaries like Ajit Shukla Das, Director of Handloom, and Lalmingtanga Darlong, Secretary of Industries and Commerce. Discussions centered on the advancement potential of Tripura's handloom sector, as the state reaffirmed its dedication to conserving traditional crafts and endorsing its artisans.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Manik Saha conducted the 'Mukhyamantri Samipeshu' program on August 6. This initiative aimed at enhancing transparency and governance by allowing citizens to voice their concerns directly to the CM, who responded with assurance of swift action. The event underscored the government's commitment to accessible and accountable governance.
