A financial literacy camp was conducted in Maharashtra's Thane district as part of an ongoing campaign by the local administration to educate rural citizens about social security schemes and fraud prevention, an official reported on Sunday.
Guided by the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, and the Reserve Bank of India, the initiative is being rolled out across all gram panchayats in the district from July 1 to September 30.
Held at Asangaon in Shahapur taluka on August 13, the camp aimed at raising financial awareness among rural residents, especially women, seniors, and economically weaker sections, focusing on KYC renewal, responsible borrowing, and digital financial literacy, according to the official.
