In a significant breakthrough, the West Agartala Police successfully dismantled a notorious gang involved in a series of thefts and robberies across Tripura. The arrest of four criminals near the Agartala-Bangladesh border late Monday night underscores the swift action taken by local law enforcement.

A senior police officer heralded the operation as a major success for the department, particularly emphasizing its timing before the Durga Puja celebrations. "This operation is a testament to the bravery and professionalism of our personnel," the officer stated, highlighting the vigilance required in a jurisdiction that spans an 11-kilometer stretch alongside Bangladesh.

The operation, based on specific intelligence, was spearheaded by Rana Chatterjee, the Officer in Charge of West Agartala Police Station. Despite resistance and an attack on a constable, the police team managed to nab the miscreants, who primarily targeted elderly citizens, conducted house burglaries, and stole motorbikes. Their activities were notably rampant in Agartala, Udaipur, and Bishalgarh areas.
