Emami Agrotech Ltd, the Rs 20,000-crore arm of the diversified Emami Group, has announced a strategic move to enter India's expansive branded staples market, valued at over Rs 80,000 crore. The company aims to inflate its food vertical to a turnover of Rs 2,000 crore within the next three to five years.

This expansion sees the launch of Emami Healthy & Tasty branded products, including atta, maida, and sooji. Presently, the food business accounts for about Rs 100 crore, and the initial focus will be on strengthening operations in the eastern region before eyeing a national foothold.

Emami Agrotech, which remains an unlisted entity, is contemplating an initial public offering (IPO) in the coming two to three years. Director Vibhash V Agarwal expressed the company's intention to move from the pantry to becoming a central element of the Indian kitchen space, aligning with trends favoring branded staples for their hygiene, packaging, and brand assurance.
