Avinash Desai, a talented engineer-turned-farmer, has garnered attention with his innovative 'mobile slurry dewatering machine', a solution that has simplified cow dung processing for farmers. Desai's invention won the Season 2 TAFE's Massey Dynastar Contest, proving the power of simplicity amidst competition from over 16,000 applicants.
Living in the Belagavi district's ancient 'wades', Desai's family oversees a 100-acre farming operation in Saudatti taluk, tackling the ongoing challenge of cow dung disposal. Frustrated with traditional methods and the limitations of bio-digesters, Desai devised a machine, attachable to any TAFE tractor, to efficiently separate slurry from manure using screw press technology.
The ingenious machine delivers nutrient-rich liquid for fields and solid waste for manure, a revolutionary win-win for farmers. Desai, after gaining insights from Season 1 of the competition, refocused on crafting accessible solutions to daily farming hassles, ultimately transforming the landscape of agricultural innovation.
