The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has made an arrest in its anti-corruption drive, detaining Assistant Sub-Inspector Om Prakash for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1.55 lakh. Previously stationed at Sohana police, Prakash is currently serving at Kharar police station in Mohali district.

The arrest came in response to an online complaint filed through the Chief Minister's Anti-Corruption Action Line involving a case against Gurjit Singh and his wife at the Sohana police station. Prakash, associated with the investigation, is accused of demanding Rs 2.5 lakh to cancel the case.

Following a vigilant investigation, the Bureau verified the allegations, leading to Prakash's arrest under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the SAS Nagar (Mohali) VB police station. This move reflects the state's commitment to a zero-tolerance policy toward corruption, with recent operations involving the arrest of 10 officials in various corruption cases.
